Story
Today Jon
Cooper, President of Lighting Components and Design, Inc. (LC&D)
announced record sales and backlog for the first Quarter of 1999. He
said, in part:
"We
are currently shipping products and accepting orders at a rate 20% greater
than last years record levels and I project this will continue
at least for the coming several years."
"We
are reaping the rewards of a five year investment of time, energy and
money in the Leecraft line and in our basic manufacturing, custom product
design and support operations. Our multi-million dollar capital investment
in automation, state of the art manufacturing systems, design systems,
customer support and information systems gives LC&D a competitive
edge in our market niche."
"We
react to unique customer requirements and changing market needs much
faster than competition straight across the board: from defining customer
need
to LC&Ds custom designed solution
to prototypes
and samples
to high volume production." Customers are excited
by our response time of a few days or weeks, instead of several months
much faster than competition."
"Now
that we have achieved our "critical mass" of production and
engineering design staff and facilities, we will be focusing on new
market opportunities for derivative products built on our current product
line. This game plan has served us well for the past 5 years and we
will stick with it, making it the strong right leg of our
growth strategy."
"The
other leg of our growth strategy is a "selective strategic acquisition
strategy" focusing on horizontal integration by acquiring product
lines and companies having similar products or manufacturing processes,
and orphan product lines of much larger companies."
"Im
in this for the long haul, and under no pressure to buy any company
today or tomorrow. Never the less, when opportunity knocks we will be
ready to capitalize on the Strategic Alliance we formed last year with
Merrill Lynch."
