Lighting
Components & Design,
Inc. has purchased a Battenfeld 2000 Injection Molding Machine with
Unilog B4 controls to increase
their molding capabilities to include insert and over molding from
Battenfeld of America, Inc., headquartered in West Warwick, RI. This
purchase has allowed LCD to increase their molding capabilities to
meet the ever growing needs of their customers.
The Battenfeld
Vertical R2000 gives the choice of vertical or horizontal injection
unit configuration, which means the mold can be designed to best
suit the application. The Battenfeld also is equipped with
DFEE twin hydraulic pumps; simultaneous movements of the clamp end
can achieve additional cycle timesavings. The ejector is a 4-station
operation. This ensures the greatest possible flexibility in semiautomatic
and automatic operation. The addition of a robot guarantees the greatest
process reliability and reduces cycle time to a minimum. Engineered,
product-specific grippers and the right loading/unloading sequences
ensure the highest productivity and process reliability.
Per Jacob
Rosales, LCD’s R&D Manager, “With the extra
tonnage on the Vertical R2000, we are able to mold larger parts than
we were with our previous molding capabilities. Also, with the additional
production on the R2000, we can now dedicate other molding machines
to specific high running jobs such as the over molding parts with long
lead wires.”
“We believe with the addition of the Vertical R2000 to our Molding
Department, LCD is more responsive to our customers growing demands
for miniature lighting component design,” said Jon Cooper, President.
